Default "Assault Rifle" Bust in Philly

    http://www.myfoxphilly.com/myfox/pag...d=1.1.1&sflg=1

On the news last night, the anchors never mentioned that the buyers and sellers were not US and/or PA citizens. They made it sound like one person sold a long gun (presumably not full-auto, I'd expect they'd mention that) to another person within PA. IMHO, this helps reinforce the stereotype, contrary to law, that long guns are illegal for individual citizens to exchange between each other.

Wow, an SKS and 38 rounds of ammo -

It is disturbing that the news station calls this a "high powered" assault rifle. They have no clue! Ignorance in reporting is dangerous.

    $900?!

Let's see... under $300 with tax at Dunham's, they have 3-4 in stock... five hour drive to Philly, $600 from each, subtract the gas...

Well, you know where I'll be this afternoon.

    High powered rifle, oh my!

I know this isn't an original thought, but where can you get a low powered rifle?

Good thing the Red Rider I got as a gag gift for my wife is well hidden in the closet. I wouldn't want to get caught with an evil high powered rifle.

What I do like to see are some of these sting buys. If Rendell and his H'Burg philly crew are going to whine about straw buys, at least give the cops some resources to go after druggies with guns and possession by prohibited persons.

As the OP points out, non-immigrant aliens may not possess guns. As the article mentions that immigration was called, I'm going to assume the sellers were prohibited persons. The drugs add a nice illegal touch to it all. Whenever I see stories like this I want to know where did they get the guns to begin with.

Here is their contact page so you can let them know what you think of their deceptive and sloppy reporting:

wow, the sks is really coming up in the world, this must be the second time I have heard it called an "assault rifle" this year.

I never wanted one before, but if their leading towards banning them I better go get two or three !
