Hunting concealed carry passed
HB2563 was signed by Rendell this past week legalizing carry during hunting activities. This should greatly please bow hunters. I have read the bill itself but was wondering if anyone can verify specifics. I am a little unclear on Title 34 activities (Game laws).
I was really wondering if this will cover game lands. My understanding is yes.I don't have a catchy phrase to put here!

Too bad the MSM doesn't flock to stuff like this as they do with a shooting, rape, or some other story designed to scare the crap out of people.

Re: Hunting concealed carry passed
While ML hunting in Va. 2 very big, snarling dogs came up to close. With the ML could have stopped one, but then what? luckly they stopped at about 50 feet. I have a cc for Pa. thats good in Va. but did not have the wepon with me at the time. had it next time out. always cc now, especially with the ML. never encountered any more "unfriendly muts".

Re: Hunting concealed carry passed
Just keep in mind, if you want to carry a handgun, you:
A) Need to have an LtCF or Sportsmans Permit, and
B) Carry a revolver.
If you carry a semi-auto, you will be fined & likely have your weapon confiscated.
Firearms - Handguns: A Sportsman’s Firearms permit or a License
to Carry Firearms is required to carry a handgun, or have in a motor
vehicle. Licenses to Carry Firearms permits are issued by county sheriffs
or the Philadelphia Chief of Police. The License to Carry Firearms
permit only entitles bowhunters or spotlighters, for instance, to
carry firearms that fall within this classification. County treasurers
issue Sportsman’s Firearms Permits. A person holding a Sportsman’s
Firearms Permit may not carry a concealed handgun or a loaded
handgun in a vehicle, and may not carry a handgun while
bowhunting or spotlighting.
The PGC is not keen on Semi-autos and I spoke with a Warden this past week. I specifically asked him about carrying my .45 and he said that it was not permitted. Revolvers were ok.

Re: Hunting concealed carry passed
Since 2007 this is not correct. The warden better freshen up on his regs...
Sec. 2525. Amended November 29, 2006, Act No. 162, Effective January 28, 2007.
Sec. 2525. Possession of firearm for protection of self or others.
(a) General rule.- It is lawful for a law enforcement officer or any person who possesses a valid license to carry a firearm issued under 18 Pa C.S. Section 6109 (relating to licenses) to be in possession of a loaded or unloaded firearm while engaged in any activity regulated by this title.
(b) Construction.
(1) This section shall supersede any prohibition on the possession of firearms or ammunition contained in any other provision of this title.
(2) This subsection shall not be construed to permit the hunting or harvesting of any wildlife with a firearm or ammunition not otherwise permitted by this title.
(c) Definitions. - As used in this section, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this subsection:
"Firearm." As defined in 18 Pa C.S. §6102 (relating to definitions).
"Law enforcement officer." As defined in 18 Pa C.S. §6102 (relating to definitions).
You can carry a semi for self defense purposes if you have an LTCF.
I'm closing this thread as there are other threads with more info already posted. (I will post a link shortly via edit)Last edited by Pa. Patriot; December 9th, 2008 at 08:33 PM.
