Reason 2,343,512 why the PSP "not a registry sales registry" sucks...
because its not updated correctly by the POS PSP employees.
So, yesterday I wake up to 2 messages from 2 different Police Depts on my cell.(this cant be good)
A Detective from my local PD, and a Detective Dickson from the DARBY Twp Police Dept.
they wanted to know if I'm missing or lost any pistols.
NO.
the local Detective was just calling as a courtesy, and he was cool, the Detective from Darby wasn't quite as friendly.
after wasting most of an afternoon trying to get in touch with him, I was called by him this morning.
Apparently they found, or had turned in, or confiscated, a Taurus 45.
I owned a Taurus Millenium 45 way back in 01 or 02, and after web reports came in of the steel insert popping the rivets on the plastic frame, I traded it in on a USP45 compact(much better gun anyway) at a gunshop named "Archery & Gun Outfitters" in Montgomeryville.. which is now closed.
the Detective was relying on the ancient PSP sales database info and kept repeating the gun was "registered" to me.. and got upset when I told him hes going to have to contact the ATF, and have them do a closed FFL storage bound book trace on whoever the next owner was, and who it was logged out to, as the PSP never updated sales info with the form that gets sent to them.
he hung up angry.. with a vaguely threating "I'll be calling you back if I need more info!" and frankly, I dont give a fuck, that pistol went onto a gun shops books, and its outta my hands.
so, yeah, after all the guns I've sold or transferred over the years, this is the first time something sort of "came back" to me, and its because the PSP sucks"Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

What "more info" are they expecting that you can provide?

I sense a little repression in your post JayBell.
The 2A does not GIVE us the right. It tells the gov they can not INFRINGE our right.

Sounds like they were following the rule of discarding all sales info after 72 hours to me. What asshats.

Wow! That's pretty F'd up!
I'm glad there is only (1) "firearm" that I have transferred outwards. Fortunately it was in my dad's name, which he gifted to me. Which in turn was transferred back to the owner that my dad received it from - my uncle on my mom's side.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

I've always feared that something would come back to bite me in the ass.
As far as transferring goes, I'm always sure to get a good bill of sale with a signature for any FTF long guns!
