    Default Shotgun Rules and Regulations

Hey everyone, I know very little about shotguns and the laws regarding them. I will be going to the York gun show in a few weeks, and I know I will be looking at a lot of them. What is the minimum barrel length you can own without a permit. Also, are there any regulations regarding foregrips or pistol grips on a shotgun? Can you have a semi-auto shotgun without a permit?

There are no "permits" to own any kind of weapon in PA.
If you want an NFA registered weapon you need to apply for the transfer (or manufacture) with the ATF and pay the $200 transfer/making tax (AOW's are $5 tax for transfer)
This is obviously what your referring to ^^^ Just for clarification

Shotguns must have a barrel length of 18" and an overall length of 26"
    Pistol grips are fine.
    Semi-auto is fine

As the 700lb gorilla pointed out a couple posts up..

Just curious though, are you originally from MD, NJ, NY, or IL? lol

18"+ inch barrels and 26"+ overall length are required to keep from having to get a $200 tax stamp for a "sawed off shotgun". Full auto's are regulated even more(no post '86 MG's to the public), but have the same $200 stamp. Semi-auto's are as legal as pumps, single shots, double's, drillings and more.
