I finally captured the elusive Ruger SR1911

I don't want to offend anyone but as I told someone via email, shooting this exceeded my expectations 10-fold, it was almost a religious experience. I'm not sure else how to describe it.

Ive been waiting since Christmas for my cousin to ship me his 24 year old Delta Elite. Soon enough though, I may just break down and go the SR1911 route. Very nice looking pistol family....

Congradulation!!! I think it is a far better Gun then Rugers P85 in 45acp but religious experience? I guess it depends on what you expect that to be. The SR 1911 along with SR9C and 9 are some of the best semi autos that Ruger has produced since the MK II III series 22LR pistol. IMHO

I agree that the SR 1911 is all you could expect from a 1911 in this price range. I have 4 other 1911s and the Ruger rates high in the top 3 in this group it has a cast slide and not forged like the Smith, Colt and Kimber, but its quailty of parts, sights and SS ranks it above my basic but near fully dressed Kimber. The Ruger SR 1911 is just as accurate as the more expensive 1911s I own. Which are probably the most accurate handguns I have.

I rented on at French Creek outfitters this passed Sunday as a birthday present to myself ... Im now in Love and will probably mope around until i can get one lol I had my heart set on a Kimber, but for half the price the Ruger would make a great first 1911 for me ... CONGRATS on the new member to your beautiful family
