Default How are my first loads?

So today I tumbled, resized and primed, tumbled again (to get the lube off) then loaded my brass its 21.5 grains of IMR 4320 with a 62 grain green tip "penetrator" bullet. I did this for 40 rounds Is this a good safe load to start with? Ill be firing this all out of my AR for plinking fun. Recommended loads are very helpful! Thanks everyone

I don't think it's such a good idea to tumble reprimed shells. I don't believe there's much danger of an ignition, but the media can work its way into the flash hole, blocking it. Since the easy-access end of the shell is plugged, getting the stray kernel of media out from the other end would be a PITA.

Where did you get the reloading info? I've never used 62s before or 4320.

IMR site shows a 63gr bullet w/4320 starting load of 23gr @ 2733 and a max of 25.5 @ 2975. Chrono you loads if you can and work from there.

The original poster says the data is from his Speer No. 13 book.

There was no load data for 62 gr bullet in my IMR manual. It said a safe load was 27 gr of IMR 4320 for a 55 gr bullet.

On IMR's website they have data for 63 gr and the recommended starting load is 23 gr of IM 4320 with a max load of 25.5 gr. I figured 21.5 gr should be safe for 62 gr bullets

You can use the same data for 62 and 63 grain bullets. Don't you have your OWN reloading manual?

All I had was a few small booklets from IMR and Hornady. But my Lyman 49th edition just came in the mail today and I've been glued to it!!

I also had a question about something I couldn't find in the book. When I was seating the bullet, a couple cases came out with little square crimps on the neck. Im not using a factory crimp die, just a seating die. Is this just and imprint of the die because the case necks are too long?
