    LifeinPA,
We've got a minor problem here - the Model 929 was introduced in 1956 - so the 'F' = 1945 letter prefix is incomplete or incorrect. Check it out.

ON A SAD NOTE: JAMESJO (Jim Ritchie) passed away last night 3/31/2012.
Jim was a good friend and H&R colleague - I will miss him. Please send wishes and prayers to his family.

I have the paper here and he clearly wrote an F, he must have gotten the wrong info off his dad. If it is an "F" what is the revolver likely to be?

I see him on Monday, I will ask to confirm his information. Thanks again for the info 32 and my condolences to the Ritchie family.

If it's an 'F' it's most likely a Model 922 - solid frame, pull-pin cylinder, 9 shot .22 - it appears that some of those were put together during WW2 from left over parts. There may also be another letter preceding the 'F', maybe an 'A'

Interesting, I will have to discuss this with him. I assume the Model 922 and 929 look very similar externally?

    Thanks.

Definitely a steal. I paid $165 for mine last fall, and it's only about a 7 or 8 out of 10.

Top pic is an older 922 (1940 vintage) - with pull-pin cylinder. 2nd and 3rd are later model 929s with swing-out cylinders.

Except for the swing-out cylinder on the 929 and the pull-pin cylinder on the 922 - the frames are very similar.

I figured, the guy isn't at qork today so I will have to ask him tomorrow.
