Default Of all the stupid things to happen!

It seems my RCBS 750 Rangemaster scale has given up he ghost!

Turned it on to calibrate and setup for a reloading session, but when I pressed the cal (calibrate) button the damn thing turned itself off! 5 iterations of the same thing convinced me, its goose is cooked!

Now I have to use my old Ohaus 5-0-5 until I get a new digital.

My 5-0-5 has been working just fine for 35 years. I'm with P89, old school works.

    God, a beam?
    How old is the RCBS?
Call them and see what it costs for fix.
I still have my Ainsworth digital I bought in the late '70s to bury that damn beam. Still working fine.

This sounds like the "short problem" that they've been having with some of their keypads. RCBS has great customer service. People have had a few problems with keypads on their Chargemasters, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were having issue with the Rangemaster keypad. I know for a fact that they replaced lots of Chargemasters, or worked on them while they were OUT of warranty, for free. This sounds like a similar issue. I don't know how old the unit is, what kind of shape it's in or anything, but I'd give them a call. I bet you they'll tell you to send it in to them, and I wouldn't be surprised if they fixed it for free, or offered you a new one at a very discounted rate. RCBS is very good to deal with, so I'd definitely make sure to call them; don't get your hopes up too high, but you might be pleasantly surprised.

You know I don't exactly remember when I bought the thing! It might be as much as 7 years old if I bought it shortly after moving here.

Well I sent a message off to RCBS a few days ago to see if the unit was repairable. They tell me it is ...for a fee of $45.

I expect my new Hornady LNL Bench Scale to be here from Midway in a few days. Meanwhile my old Ohaus 5-0-5 still works.
