Smile Just got back, first time at the range.

My wife & I just got back from our first time at the pistol range at the Cocalico Sportmen's Assn. My wife shot her Ruger SR-22 semi auto pistol and I tried out my Ruger 357 New Vaquero. I just used the 38 specials, but it was smooth and pleasure to shoot, but I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. I also shot a little S&W sigma 380, let me tell you that little sucker kicks and is LOUD as hell.

We had some trouble with the SR-22 though, a few jams & misfires, maybe the ammo wasn't powerful enough? Might try it again tomorrow. Anyway it was fun and another member was there and was very helpful with some shooting tips and answering our questions. We had a really good time.

Typical feedback about Ruger firearms.. multiple jams, can't hit the broad side of the barn with em, etc..

The SR22 just needs broke in a little bit more. I would try to find some Federal Automatch 40Gr. ammo. It comes in a bulk box of 325 and is meant for semi-auto pistols and rifles. Costs $17 at Wally world.

Hmmm we got an SR-22 and we've put a few hundred rounds through it so far with no problems at all. We're very pleased with it. The kids have been shooting it at the range too, with no problems.

What kind of jams were they? Not sure if the .22's can have limpwristing issues...?

Maybe.. theres alot of mass in that slide coming back on that Ruger and if your not holding the frame tight it may be an issue.. definately not as much of a problem as a centerfire would be though.

Like others said; break it in, clean it, try different ammo, etc.

I have a sr22, bought it to teach my son and some cheap target practice. Never had an issue with it and I have been shooting the Walmart federal 550 bulk pack through it. First run through it I had to clean it after about 50 rounds cause it was filthy but it has been great since

I don't have the Ruger SR-22, but just got the Ruger Mark III. Hates the 1,000 rounds of Remington .22 (like $20 per 500) I bought and jams, doesn't fire, etc. Tried the CCL .22 (comes in clear plastic containers of 100) and shoots perfect. And I thought Remington made decent bullets... Still looking for something around that price that will feed in it as it's a cool handgun to practice on.
