shipping lower to engraver
I need to send my lower off to be engraved. Still deciding between orion and Ident, suggestions? Anyway, Orion only wants them sent UPS. For the guys who have sent receivers in the past, what is the procedure for UPS. Can I just take it to a UPS store, tell them it's an AR lower and go from there or are there issues sending the receiver through them? How did you guys send them?

Some UPS stores won't accept firearms and such (at least one of the independent location in State College won't), you may need to take it to one of the main hubs.

Re: shipping lower to engraver
Took mine to the kinkos fedex no problems.
I went with ident and am very happy with the work they did.
Or thing ident has over Orion is you don't have to strip your lower if it's not already stripped. I had mine done in the trigger area.

Re: shipping lower to engraver
I recently sent my lowers to Orion and I'm still waiting to receive them; shipped my lowers out about a week ago.
You need to take the lowers to a UPS hub and not any of their affiliate stores (e.g., Staples) or UPS stores. When you get to the hub, let them know that you're shipping a firearm and that it is not a handgun. Handguns need to be shipped overnight but a general firearm like a lower receiver can go ground (I shipped mine ground). They may give you some trouble about needing a copy of the recipient's FFL but emphasize that it is not a handgun and that it is going for repair not for transfer. My feedback thread: http://forum.pafoa.org/feedback-109/219616-rxm.html
