    Default 1911 Platform

I have my eye on a few new pistols. (new to me)

Revolvers: SW Md 10, SW Md 65

    Autos: Umarex 1911

The Umarex (importer) 1911 is a Turkish made 1911, investment cast frame , CNC forged, milled, slide, Hogue grips, for $329-$349, 2 mags. Before you flame me on this...read the reviews. Supposedly a Much improved Regent R-100. The Turks are making some nice pistols these days (I have one in a Beretta clone, best shooter I own)

    I don't know, for under $350, for a 1911??

    Opinions??

New? I handle them quite often, I'm not really impressed - If you like 1911s get the Ruger 22/45 or variant, they're great, accurate trainers and better quality IMO than the umarex for the same or less. (plus, real 1911s are chambered in .45acp)

I've read a few reviews about this exact gun (Umarex) and I would buy one sight unseen based on the information out there.

I was tossing around the idea of buying one of these for a friend of mine who wants to get into shooting but he's been dragging his feet. I think he'd get a whole lot more interested (training, range time, forum reading) if he had the actual gun in his hands.

I too have seen them for around 350.00 to 375.00 NIB.

You mis-understood, sorry. This is not the GSG .22lr (or other) this is the full size , black, Hogue grip, 1911 .45. Google it and let me know what your opinion of the articles are?

I have one of those Turkish 1911's in 45 acp I was also very skeptical I mean really what are you going to get for $349.00. What I got was a tight well cnc machined shooter that puts 8 rounds into as silver dollar sized group all the time . Even the factory trigger pull was very nice. The grips and sights are cheap but functional and better than standard G.I. Basically its a point and shoot pistol ,you do your job and you won't miss. It is on par with other 1911's that I own which cost 5 times as much. I have colts, springfield armory and fusions in my collection . and I am looking at adding one of the new Dan Wessons. I was frankly shocked at how well the turk built pistol for $349.00 shoots ,handles all my wilson combat and chip mccormick mags no problem. I actually shoot it more than most of the other ones that I have. I like it so much that I bobtailed it added novak sights coco bolo grips, up graded the hammer and trigger system and cerakoated the frame grey so now its two tone. heres a pic .

I dont have a current pic but it has novak sights on it now.

    I thought you sold that?

Did the buyer back out and is it for sale or no?

Is that what CDNN has for $ 349.99 ? They don't say what brand, just "full size, 70 series, 5" 1911-A1" ?? I was tempted, but not sure what it really was.

Pretty sure, but since they don't tell you, I wonder if this is a generic SKU that they fill with whatever low end 1911 they come across?

    If it is:

I most certainly misunderstood. I was obviously thinking of the Umarex 1911 .22LR - whist your talking about a completely different gun ! I would be interested in handling one, though I would in that price range consider trying to find a used springer GI/Milspec and have something I could really build off of.. If you get the Umarex, let me know how it shoots.

Nobody's going to like this admission, but the more I handle Turkish firearms recently the more I notice the quality improving over what I'm used to seeing from that region.
