    Default CCI Quiet 22 .22lr Ammo Really is Pretty Quiet

    I tried some of this stuff today;

    It was really quite. Surprisingly so. I also shot Remington Subsonic and it was noticeably more quiet then the Remington. Remington rimfire ammo sucks anyway...

    I was shooting at 100 yards with a Marlin 925 I received from a member today (thanks Adam, I'm pretty pleased with it). Someone had setup a steel drum lid at the 100 yard backboard, and the rounds smacking it were louder than the actual rifle. Here's a little video. Forgive the perspective. It's more about the sound than the video.

    You can tell by the giggling I found it quite funny. It's cool to hear rounds hitting a target, something you usually only get with a suppressor.

    Wonder if it would cycle a 10/22.

    Highly doubt it. Not a whole lot of energy going on. I was holding about 3 feet high at 100 yards. (Compared to high velocity .22lr.)

    Yes, and the Aguila Colibri works pretty good too, along the same lines, no propellant, just primer. They're only moving at about 375 fps though. This CCI ammo is supposedly going 710 FPS.

    Have you shot the Colibri out of a rifle?

    I never have and was going to try it, if it worked i was going to get some more for my girls to shot out of their Crickett but am worried about a squib.

    That stuff seems like something I might have to get a brick of.

    If you're worried about squibs I'd get the CCI. They really do make some of the most consistent rimfire ammo around, and it makes Remington Subsonics seem loud.

    Ok, thanks, I have some of the Colibri but just never seemed to have any out when I had a rifle with me.
    I figured it might be a problem and really don't want to have to check the bore each time they shoot.

    You sold me! I'm going to pick some up and try it in my Henry lever action.
