Re: Need help learning to use my Pistol
Go HERE and search for the "NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course"
Don't just go to the range with some random dude.

+1. The Basic Pistol course is good and you should be proficient in the basics buy the time you finish it.
The M1. Smackin' the bastards since 1932.

Re: Need help learning to use my Pistol
Let's see...single dad, moving to a less than desirable area, looking for some help. I'm kinda thinking maybe a professional course could be financially out of reach at present. I could be wrong but it makes sense. There isn't anything wrong with asking strangers for help, so long as you ask in the right place and PAFOA is the right place.
I've had several brand new newbies on the range, people who came on here looking for a little help and guidance. In this case he's on the wrong side of the state for me but I hope someone comes along and gives the guy a hand. He's taking his right to SD in hand and now needs some direction from a more experienced hand. Sound right to me. Better he ask for help than randomly figure it out on his own. When the SHTF......be the fan.

Check out http://www.fireinstitute.org
-On left side of page look for One Day Handgun Clinic
Fire Institute will give you solid training. You can look for some reviews of their classes on the PAFOA site.

Re: Help from Frank Melloni from History's channel TOP SHOT
Folks, don't be so greedy. I wish the OP lives closer to me, so I could accomodate his request at no charge. Couple of hours of professional instructions at the range is pretty much all he needs. I can't believe no one can contribute 2 hours of his time for a good deed to help a single father in a difficul financial cituation. It's aside from helping a new shooter.
Je suis déplorable

Re: Help from Frank Melloni from History's channel TOP SHOT
My feelings as well. We're part of a community and as such should be available to help one another as we can. Someone heading off to their local club can take this fellow along for the good of everyone. If we don't help our own, who will? He's not looking for advanced training that requires a learned and honed (therefore valuble) instructor, he's looking for the basics. Like Metz, if he were close to me he'd be either on the range or scheduled to do so.
When the SHTF......be the fan.

Re: Need help learning to use my Pistol
I am far from being an instructor, but if the OP wants to send me his contact info, I could take him out to PMSC maybe next weekend. I will bring out some torso targets and he can try shooting them, maybe I can give some pointers, and maybe I can show him how to use/clean his gun.
