Anyone run into this at Walmart?
I was reading the XDtalk board and a member, from Burnsville, IN, said he saw two signs posted in the sporting goods dept. at Walmart. FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS THE RETURN OF AMMO and FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS THE SALE OF AMMO AFTER 10:0pm. Any idea if this is legit?

Re: Anyone run into this at Walmart?
I don't believe I have ever seen a law that states that. It might be that that WM made the sign hoping that people think it is a law. That said, I know some WM's will not take back ammo because of liability reasons. But to say that you can't buy ammo after a certain time, that just plain dumb.

I've experienced the 10pm thing there too. That's just store policy, correct?

Re: Anyone run into this at Walmart?
They prolly just don't want to have to worry about having someone at the back counter at 3am..

Re: Anyone run into this at Walmart?
Store policy or some local law. I bet it's just policy. Many fllks think there are laws that don't exist. Kind of like the idiots right here in PA that tell others that it's illegal to carry in a bar, open carry, carry in a bank. etc etc.
No ammo returns.... OK, I can see that. Don't want folks switheroo'ing premium ammo for crap.
No ammo after 10PM... That's just plain old ignorance. As if only crooks buy ammo after 10PM Walmart hires some of the biggest assholes ever to walk the earth... and then promotes them to management.Last edited by Pa. Patriot; February 9th, 2008 at 09:04 PM.

Re: Anyone run into this at Walmart?
Based on some other forum postings (on another board), it seems fairly well documented that this is 'company policy', not a federal law (or any other 'law') that I've seen referenced.
This seems mostly based on staffing issues during overnight hours, just as you can't pick up a prescription or have photos developed in an hour. The fact that NICS (and in our case PICS) shuts down at 10:00 may lend some confusion to the issue, as this prevents firearm sales after 10:00 pm. Given the lack of familiarity with firearm related law we routinely see behind the gun counter, it not surprising.Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.

Re: Anyone run into this at Walmart?
It seems like every other thread on this forum is about Walmart. I've been there maybe 5-10 times, mostly recently. I don't think I want to go there anymore.
