New Member in Erie
Hi,
I am a new member and will be moving to Erie from Virginia (D.C. area). I am an experienced gun guy, firearms instructor, LE experience, NRA Life Member, coming to Erie for a new job. Would love to meet other members and find out about the local gun culture - gun shops, ranges, clubs, etc. Also interested in any groups that train together - CQB, long range, unarmed combat. I am into a lot of things.
I can already carry a handgun in PA with my creds, so that's not a problem. I am wondering what the laws are about having a rifle in the vehicle in PA/Erie? Loaded? Unloaded?
Thanks everyone.
Jerry

Welcome to Erie, the "mistake on the lake" .
I'm pretty sure long guns in a vehicle, must be unloaded.

We also have http://thekeystonearmory.com/ for military items, regular stuff too.
http://www.edinborooutdoors.com/ is another one of my favorites.
I belong to http://www.gemcitygunclub.org/ which is about a mile from my house.
In town http://www.keystonegun.com/ is a really great place, friendly folk too.
If you end up on the west side, try http://walnutcreekrifleclub.com/club_history.html
We do have occasional "get-togethers" just keep an eye on this section.
If you order any lumber or other large heavy items from Home Depot, I'll be delivering it, at least until I get that real good paying job I'm trying real hard for.

Jerry,
Welcome to the forum and the area. Been in Erie all my life. Just like any other place, it has it's ups and downs. Take advantage of the outdoor opportunities and you should enjoy your stay.

Thanks everyone for great info. They are putting me up at South Shore Apartments right downtown for three months, so I can figure out where I want to live. As soon as I land in Erie in April, I will be visiting all the places you guys recommended.

Welcome to Erie, South Shore Apartments is located in Harborcreek right down the road from the fully nude local strip club. Keystone Armory is a nice store.
I dont really care for rest of the gun stores around here.

Welcome to Erie. I have been here over 5 years now and love it. Pretty gun friendly, and some great food here too. I belong to Walnut Cree. very nice place to shoot out on the far west side.
