lcp problem
So i just got my brand new ruger lcp. Brought it home and loaded it up. First 47 shots were great, pulled the trigger for the 48th and noting, looked down and the shell didnt eject and a fresh one was jammed in behind it. I dropped the mag and the slide slid forward off of the grip. The takedown pin nowhere in sight. Now i gotta wait for the adress label from ruger and then another three weeks after that to get my gun back. THANKS RUGER

Re: lcp problem
Why don't you just order a new take down pin? They're like $5.
Did you disassemble the gun at all before shooting it? Perhaps someone that worked at the gunshop did, and didn't reassemble it properly.
I would not automatically blame ruger because the take down pin was loose and popped out. It might be their fault. Either way, i'm sure they'll stand by the gun.

Re: lcp problem
Sig 238s did have a lot of problems in the early production runs.
My guess is that the take down pin wasn't fully popped into place, and just slid out during shooting. I'm surprised the slide will come off the gun with a mag in place though. On a lot of guns as long as a mag is in, even if the slide stop or take down pin were to fall off or break the gun would not fly into pieces.Last edited by Valorius; March 1st, 2012 at 07:40 PM.

Re: lcp problem
^This, with a side salad of how in the fuck would that pin come out? Magic? Unicorns and fairies? I have to use the rim of a casing as a pry tool to get mine out. That thing is IN there. I have no idea how it would fall out.
Beginning to think... I should have too...

Re: lcp problem
Perhaps the detent wire on his LCP somehow became dislodged, or broke. Or perhaps (and most likely), some bored gun store clerk took the gun apart one day trying to pass the time, and didn't put it back together right.
Who knows. Anyway...$5 and you're back in business. There's certainly no need to send the gun back as long as the new pin snaps into place tightly.
