dry fire issue springfield XD????????
has anyone experienced or heard of this issue?? If you dry fire a springfield xd too much you can break the pin that is located behind chamber indicator .that from what i have heard the pin goes through a notch in the firing pin and when the gun is dry fired the firing pin smacks the pin and eventually breaks it ?
I hope this is not a huge issue because this is what i carry as a duty weapon. knowledge is power so i hope you guys can help me out on this one

Re: dry fire issue springfield XD????????
My Xd is about 3 yrs old. Dry fire quite often and have had no problems. Just checked the manual and they even recommend practice with dry fire.

Re: dry fire issue springfield XD????????
This is something that happens in some striker fired guns. It isn't overly common, but it does happen sometimes.
If you're really concerned, then snap caps will be your best friend. I use them myself as a precaution, and while it may not happen to me, it's a good investment. It also lets me load a partial mag of non-firing rounds and practice failure drills Or you can add a random snap cap in a mag and practice at the range if you have a misfire.

Re: dry fire issue springfield XD????????
I have a 2 year old XD Tactical and haven't had any issues performing dry fire drills. As others have said snap caps are a great solution to perform dry fire and clearing malfunctions during live fire drills. I usually have someone else load the magazines so I'm not cheating. Springfield has a great warranty also so if it happens I think your covered. Can't hurt to contact them to confirm. Good luck.

Re: dry fire issue springfield XD????????
The roll pin is the weak link. Several companies offer upgraded pins that I believe are solid. If I ever manage to wear mine out, I will order one.

Re: dry fire issue springfield XD????????
I used to read the XDTalk forums fairly regularly and one of the problems talked about was broken roll pins.
Here is a guide to replacing it
