Arsenal AK47
This is a thread about my Arsenal SGL-21 build that I just completed.
It started it's life as an Arsenal SGL-21 with factory installed Midwest Industries rail and KVAR polymer furniture.
I then installed a Magpul AFG, Aimpoint H1-Micro, and Arsenal side-folding stock.
I then realized that I don't care for the "tactical" look and feel of the AK47. I then decided to go in a different direction.
Disassembled AK47:
I ordered a custom wood set from a member on AR15.com. The upper handguard has a 1947 Soviet postage stamp inlaid under the poly coating on the upper handguard.
The lower handguard was an extremely tight fit, so a hammer was used to GENTLY tap it into the reciever.
Pistol grip and buttstock installed. Again, a very tight fit on the buttstock, which required several "taps" into the floor to ensure proper seating with the reciever.
The upper handguard had several clear poly coats, which made it extremely difficult for me to install to the gas tube. Member elray graciously agreed to handle the install for me---thanks again!
The finished product, with a Norinco pre-ban 75 round drum magazine:

Re: Arsenal AK47
Thanks everyone! I jumped on the furniture set as soon as I saw it for sale. I was surprised no one else grabbed it.

Amazing! I never cared much for "blacked-out" ak's either... There's something about that classic ensemble of wood and metal that I love. A sort of rugged elegance that can't be matched with cheap plastic.
