Is Taurus PT22 Good For Women?
I just wanted to know if there are any women out there that own a PT22. Could you tell us if they're good? I want to get one for my wife. We were just hoping to get a review of it from a woman's perspective.
Thanks"Life does not stop and start at your convenience."

Why get one for you wife? Does you wife want one or do you want one for her. I would insist the latter due to your above post.
Take her shooting at a range that rents guns. Rent a whole bunch and let her try them out for herself. Heck, let her get the gun she wants... you can pay for it.
(or just do a search and this kind of groundbreaking wisdom is yours without posting the same questions as everyone else)Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

Re: Is Taurus PT22 Good For Women?
It's more that I want one for her. She's willing to own and carry one, but too gun-shy to go buy one on her own.
Also, there's no need to rent guns. I own several, as do many of my friends. We've had the opportunity to try several.
And we have been searching...and searching...and searching. Just because somebody posts up their own question doesn't mean that they haven't already done their homework. But thanks for assuming."Life does not stop and start at your convenience."

Tae your wife to gunshop, and let her pick.
She may pick 22, or she may pick 9mm. You'll never know.
But that way, she can't say "I didn't want that one".
trust me on this one

IMHO, there is no reason on earth to buy someone a PT22. It is a poor choice to learn with and a worse choice for any other use. It's only use is as a novelty item.

Re: Is Taurus PT22 Good For Women?
i dont think 1 woman answered the guys question yet. all he asked was for a womans opinion and he has a bunch of guys telling him its a waste of money. give the guy a break.
i carry a 22 sometimes, its a beretta....not sure if thats the same one as the pt22...but there is nothing wrong with a 22 if thats what she wants. it will kill you dead. if someone else thinks it wont, see if they would like volunteer there services to try it out.

Re: Is Taurus PT22 Good For Women?
I would not take a .22 completly out of the search for a first gun but I think a man or woman could do better than the one op asked about.
Some people just plain suck.

Re: Is Taurus PT22 Good For Women?
A PT22 would be fine, for the range. I've shot one and it belonged to a woman and she did not like it. My friend (her husband) bought it for her thinking it would be ok for her, turns out he was wrong. She had a hard time loading it, the sights sucked and its really small, even for a woman. Although it seemed to be reliable I don't remember it jamming once. It did fail to fire a few times but that was the ammo's fault.
I don't know what it is with guys thinking that women need small guns or small calibers. My girlfriend is only 5'1" and weighs about 120 pounds soaking wet can shoot my 1911 like a champ. And when she finally decides to buy her self a pistol, I have a feeling she's going to want a 1911 and I will back her all the way.
