They refuse to issue to their own residents unless you are connected or have tons of $$$$.

You can get an application at the NJSP website, but I'm telling you right now, unless you donate $100K to the governor's re-election and $50K to everyone below him down to the chief of police of every town - you will NOT get it.

Here is the link to the application. Instructions are at the top right of it.

It's de facto extortion. Sad, but true - and they're getting away with it.

A friend of mine is a corrections officer...he had to wait until he was one year on the job before they would issue him a carry permit. Regular citizen...fuhgedaboutit.

Back in 89 I applied for my NJ Firearms ID card .. wanted it before I left for the military so I could purchase a shotgun. It was denied and I appealed it. The judge made me wait until I finished basic training before he would hand it over. Yes .. had to go in front of a judge. All of this for a shotgun.... oh, same would have applied to the Benjamin Sheridan .22 Air Rifle I purchased at the time.

Why was it denied? Because I was "too young" even though I was of the legal age to purchase in NJ.

NJ is, and probably always will be, an insanely difficult state to live in if you love firearms. Moving to PA was the best thing I have ever decided to do aside from having a kid (notice I did NOT say getting married )... just wish I'd have done it sooner. All that extra house money could have led to a bunch of new toys
