Default Is There A Cheap, Easy Way To Paint AK?

Is there a way to cut corners for painting my AK, without it sacrificing the durability of a paint job for all practicality such as:

by leaving the old bluing on the rifle, degreasing it, and then simply painting over it?

I ask, because i only got my WASR for giggles, and I'm craving to make it into my own custom blue camo pattern.

You should check out this master spray painter:

These members will never cease to surprise you. Good luck on the project.

: ) ya the internet has lots of good surprise.

I will research this krylon camo spray paint. It looks like the right stuff, and that person's method look like the ticket. This is turning into a 5 year itch that I am constantly thinking about. I guess there's an artist i us all.

Next I want to get a pattern picked.

I hope they have enough colors.

You can also go the way of Duracoat or CeraKote. Both come in multiple colors and are very durable. They have enough colors that you can put on just about any camo color pattern you want.

Hit it with some krylon, beat the piss out of it, and when it gets ugly, hit it with more krylon, or don't. It's an AK. If you don't abuse it like the ugly whore it is, it will never respect you.

Someone once said "It's an AK, not a prom date."

    Can't remember who...good quote though.

James Yeager said something like the AR is a prom queen and the AK is a biker chick. Probably some variation on that. I could ask him. I'm currently drinking beer in his basement.
