1911 gunsmith needed in PA
I've tried a few web sites and most of the links for 1911 gunsmiths are dead (email returned).
I need someone who know how to put a 1911 front sight on.
NOT A 1911A1 front sight.
Yes Dorothy, there is a difference.
I spent 7 years looking for a front sight.. now I have a 8. Just need a smith that knows how to put it on.

Re: 1911 gunsmith needed in PA
Farb,
Are you talking about the small tenon type front sight? If so, not hard, you use a dremel to remove the tenon material that has been peened inside the slide (that's what holds the front sight on). Pull the front sight off. Put the new front sight in and use a front sight staking tool to peen the tenon down. A tiny drip of loctite can be used to hold the sight in the correct orientation when you turn the slide over to do the staking. Then clean up any rough spots with a little piece of fine wet/dry automotive sandpaper wrapped around the correct sized dowel rod.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Ive heard very good things about the gunsmith that operates out of Kings Shooting Supply in KOP and its pretty local to us. prices are very reasonable... my 1911 is up there for work now.
