Default How do I tighten the butt of this shotgun?

My old man let me borrow his 12 gauge shotgun for the upcomming turkey season. I noticed that the butt of this Mossberg is pretty loose. I did not see any screws on the gun to tighten

I am not sure specifically which model it is, because there is a sticky resedue on the entire gun because someone put camo tape on it at some point.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Isaac

    Try this:

    To Remove Buttstock:
    1) Loosen the top screw holding the recoil pad or buttplate on stock. Note: Most models use
    Phillips head screws.
    2) Loosen and remove the bottom recoil pad or buttplate screw.
    3) Swing the recoil pad or buttplate around the top screw which will allow access to the stock
bolt through the stock butt hole.
    4) Check stock bolt head configuration. Some models use a slotted head, others use a 1/2 in.
    hex head.
    5) Loosen and remove stock bolt by turning it counterclockwise. The stock may now be
    removed from the receiver.
You didn't say which model Mossberg so finding exact instructions is difficult. But these are the instructions for removing the stock, but instead of removing it, tighten it.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

LOL I did 50 squat thrusts and the thing never tightened up. JK, I took the recoil pad off and there is a good size flat head screw in there that I need to tighten. I guess Im gonna have to go buy a longer screw driver.

    Thanx Isaac

Usually a little tickle tightens it right up...unless she's a freak like that, then ya just marry her!

A flathead bit on an adapter and a (couple)long 1/4" drive extension(s) will work on a ratchet if you are careful.

Hope this helps someone. both my stoeger stf 3000 o/u and my old lefever side by side had loose butt stocks. remove the shoulder butt pad from the end of the stock, it's held on with 2 screws. you'll find a bolt down inside to tighten that will tighten up the butt stock. may need to use a socket or screwdriver.
