    Exclamation FN 5.7... KABOOM!

    .
    http://www.predatormastersforums.com...33&nt=3&page=1

Last week my FN Five-Seven blew up causing severe damage to my left hand (I am right handed). There are 6-8 pieces of shrapnel deep in my thumb and palm area which severed the nerves to my thumb and a portion of my palm. Surgery is required in an attempt to repair the hand by harvesting tissue from my leg. Wish me luck.

I know there are folks that own and carry this pistol, so count this as a "heads-up".

Hopefully this is an isolated incident.

ETA: Note: This isn't me or my pistol, I found it on another forum.

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

DAMN! And y'all thought Glock KBs were bad.

I'm a little confused though on the firing out of battery explanation, and I don't know a lot about failures as such, but does an out of place slide really cause a bullet casing to rupture like that? I can see as to how the plastic wouldn't hold up from pressures created but it looks like the brass not holding is what really caused it to disintegrate.

Wow. Look at how much of the casing is outside of the barrel. That's more than an out of battery issue. Previous round lodged in barrel? I fire mine and use the 30 round mag, no issue. These are rare issues, but they do happen with every kind of firearm.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but believe me, it's on the damned list.

There is a bunch of these posted over on the 5.7 forums. Mostly happens from reloads. This round is very pressure sensitive and probly 20 or so incidents I've seen when people were working up loads. This round is reccomended to be reloaded by experts only. If the shoulder is not moved back to the proper position or the wrong powder is used it goes kaboom. I think there is only like 3 powders so far manufactures reccomend for reloading.

I reload a ton of ammo in multiple calibers and I still don't have the balls to reload for mine yet. And yes most all these kabooms are a result from an out of battery fire from improperly sized ammo. Makes factory ammo look better every time I see one of these pics.

The ammo Elite is making is from new ammo that pulled apart then reloaded with new bullets and powder. They are not resizing the brass.
www.Steelvalleycasting.com is your new home for coated bullets and custom ammo.

Just.............WOW............ I did not know this gun had this problem. I was intrested in it about 12 years ago when I first heard about it but it was so far out of my price range theat I never really researched it too well.
I think we should just pass along a heads up to the members who we know to own one.
    Some people just plain suck.
