PLease Read if u need a permit or will renew one in Hazleton pa

I got my carrying permit a few weeks ago in hazleton pa no problems nice and easy. Well today i took my friend who is a new gun owner down to get one to find out from a sheriff closing up that they are no longer doing them you will now have to go to Wilkes barre to get a gun permit. I asked Why he said not enough money. just letting all u locals know....

Luzerne County has misspent our money for decades.

Every turn shows more money trails and corruption. The best estimates are in the tens of millions.

Every department has people not showing for work and getting paid. They have even stolen money right out in the open.

I'm not making this up! Read the locals. We pay most employees thousands more than other counties.

Now with home rule, the gig is up. No more easy street- no more millions over budget for the next generation to deal with.

There are layoffs, budget cuts and waste reduction. There was a fiasco in Hazleton a few years ago where the county bought a property to use as an annex. They paid well over market for a building that had air quality issues. It belonged to one of the commissioners political allies.

Now that I got that out, I'm sorry you have to travel to WB to re-up. It's the cost of staying in budget.

Please let us know when your friend goes for his LTCF. Several of us are interested to see how this is handled. Being as they just laid off the guy who is the one to issue the LTCF.

In Luzerne County YES!!

A three person council means nothing gets really debated. The strong party always wins and the weak party just sits there, says things and gets ignored.

Three are corruptible easier than eleven. You get a better mix of ideas and a manager that doesn't have his/her job as a political favor.

Luzerne County has it's first budget in many years that isn't debt funded.

The hemorrhaging has stopped.

In an effort to not allow this thread to get hijacked(my fault- I started it) I won't reply again off topic. PM always welcome.

PS: The Sterling fiasco isn't done yet. I know of people who may still go to jail over it. Fraud and violation of the public trust is a staple here.
