To add another data point. Wife and I dropped ours off shortly after I posted - March 5th or so. Got the post card on about the 23rd or so and picked up our licenses tonight. Was painless but long.

We're good for another 5 years.

Reason why so long I hear is the Sheriff does not support gun owners having a cWP. I submitted mine 2 weeks ago and told 6 weeks. Another friend took 5 weeks

Are you sure? It was always 3-4 weeks. I'm sure it takes longer with the sudden increase of applications. Just because he doesn't support gun ownership doesn't mean he's gonna slack and wait around longer to approve the applications.

Is it true you have to go in person to pick up the permit for a non-resident?

I believe that is true statewide. Could be wrong, but I recall that the Centre County Sheriff used to process applications by mail and I believe he no longer does. Could be wrong, but I believe there was a change to the law or a crackdown at some point in the last few years.

OK thanks the reason I ask is I will be coming into town to visit and I would like to apply but I'm not sure when I will be back in town to pick it up. That is if the turn around is in fact 5-6 weeks.

Well I applied for the permit on 6/13 and received my card to pick it up on 7/2, 14 business days. IMO not too shabby, now I have to wait 4 weeks until I can pick it up.

The wait is still "2-3 weeks till you can pick it up"

Coming from Po-dunk PA (where I the whole process took 20 mins from parking the truck to getting back on my way) this whole waiting thing seems strange.

I guess I'm waiting a month either way because I need the "extended hours" day to get back there anyways.

Picked up today, got the card in the mail last week.

So they were in the original estimate of 2-3 weeks still.
