Ignorance of law clears Orange County Sheriff's top lobbyist in gun controversy
Here is an interesting story from the Orlando Sentinel about a Sheriff wanting to ban (or at least restrict) open carry in Florida. More slimy scare tactics.
First Paragraph from article:
Ignorance of the law helped clear Sheriff Jerry Demings' political lobbyist of wrongdoing for handing out gun owners' restricted driver's license photos last year in Tallahassee to lobby against an open-carry law, Orange County sheriff's records show.

Marion Hammer is dead on: If a citizen is busted for something, the fact they didn't know it was illegal doesn't help. But when the sheriff's office doesn't bother to know the law ... they play the "no harm ... no foul" card and get out of jail free.
That's just not right.

So if I don't know it's illegal, then it isn't. I thought that argument only worked with toddlers, Congressmen, and Senators.

So the average citizen can claim the same exact excuse:
Drive 100 MPH in a school zone? I didnt know....
Carry a gun into a fed facility? I didnt know.....
steal money from an armored car? I didint know
the level of hypocrisy is astonishingDerrion Albert was my Hero.

"When you or I do something we're told 'ignorance of the law is no excuse,'"said Hammer, who believes Fewless' actions might become a campaign issue in the fall election for Orange County's 42,000 residents with concealed weapon licenses. "I don't have a crystal ball but people don't like it when certain people are above the law."
Really? I was told in all my civics classes that 'ignorance of the law is no excuse, guess that only applies to the "less connected people" commonly called the "unwashed masses" by the elitists. I hope the good people of Florida show that jerk the door at election time.

Don't forget that the agency that cleared him of any wrong doing is just as much at fault.
