1911 Interchagable Barrels (conversion)
I am thinking of getting a Sig Sauer 1911-22. Can the barrels and slides interchange to the .45? Any other 1911's that can convert from .22 to .45?

Someone may be able to confirm or dispel this, but I don’t believe so. I don’t think that the frames built for the 22 are strong enough to handle the 45. You would be much better off to go from 45 down to 22.

the sig 1911 is pretty much a relabeled GSG 1911. Which is not compatible with 45 parts. your best bet is to purchase a 1911 and then a 22 conversion.

Not to mention that some .22RF specific guns just aren't built strong enough or have the proper heat treating of the steel that the larger chambered guns have.
