If what you are describing to me sounds like what I am thinking it is,
DO NOT CARRY!

If you are doing any type of Urban Exploration, DO NOT CARRY.
Yes it will be dangerous, Yes there could be drug dealers or bums, Carry something else, Like a defensive flashlight.

If you get caught while carrying I can almost guarantee that your firearm will be seized, whether legal or not for them to do so.

THIS IS JUST MY ADVICE, IANAL.

Thanks for the advice. After thinking about it I will probably just stick to my previous defense of safety in numbers. I have not yet carried while photographing and probably will not in the future.
