If he wanted to help his friend who was thinking about buying a gun, the first thing should have been to teach him the basic safety rules.

    And live by them!

I hope the girl is ok.

Man, god bless Hannah! Hope she makes a full recovery.

"X is what percentage of Y?" Divide the first number by the second, multiply the answer by 100. Add a percent sign. Think.

Investigators say Moises Zambrana was showing his gun to another church member interested in buying a firearm. Zambrana has a concealed weapons permit and reportedly took out the gun's magazine but did not know there was a bullet in the chamber.

WTF??? This dude should have charges pressed just for stupidity.

This is so sad. (in many ways)

Idiots like that will ruin it for everyone. a gun is not a toy you DO NOT hand your weapon over to someone who has no knowledge of gun safety, even if he does, always assume that he doesn't. i am sorry but even if a very knowledgeable members here ask me to see my weapon i wouldn't do it. just because they know everything that need to know about their weapon that doesn't make them an expert on mine (no offense). and plus there is a time and place for everything.

Tragic, and I hope the woman pulls though.

Really, the guy was irresponsible and stupid. A mistake like that is really unforgivable in my mind, and he shouldn't be handling firearms.

It's for these types of reasons why my pistol stays in its holster unless it's ready to serve its purpose, on its way into the safe for the night, or being cleaned.

I remember seeing a Clint Smith video, in which he argues that there's only 3 places for your sidearm: 1) In the holster 2)low-ready 3)on target. If it's not in one of those three positions, it's probably somewhere it shouldn't be.

Our actions (as firearms enthusiasts and gun-rights advocates) reflect on our entire community and cause. Every one of us has a duty to represent our cause and community in the best possible light, since there is so much prejudice and misinformation in the general public about 'gun-nuts'.

Let's hope the girl recovers with no permanent brain damage but it does not look good for her.

Since FL requires proof of firearms training to get a CCW, one wonders just how effective the course was in that he, Moises, "did not know there was a bullet in the chamber" (what's the first rule of the gun safety mantra? And, what a lame excuse anyway.). Also, the article doesn't say whether it was he that caused the ND or one of the others in the closet .

If the girl dies, I would think that involuntary manslaughter charges would be in order, at least against the gun owner, for such a negligent and mindless handling of his firearm.

The guy carrying the gun did not know there was a round in the chamber????? WTF? It's his gun, he should know the state of it at all times.

Somebody should most certainly be charged with something here for discharging the gun, even though it was "accidental".

Hope that the young lady makes a full recovery
