Need help choosing a 22LR Rifle
Hello Everyone,
Looking to get a 22LR rifle. My first rifle, have had only handguns.
Mostly for range use. In New Jersey, you just cant go out in the woods for plinkering.
Nothing too fancy or expensive. I narrowed my choices to a Marlin 60 or 70, Mossberg 702 & a Ruger 10-22.
Any thoughts?
Does Walmart or Dicks Sporting Goods sell them at reasonable prices? There's no such thing as a good gun. There's no such thing as a bad gun. A gun in the hands of a bad man is a very dangerous thing. A gun in the hands of a good person is no danger to anyone except the bad guys."

Re: Need help choosing a 22LR Rifle
In NJ a Marlin Model 60 is an assault rifle because of the amount of semi-auto shots it allows.

Go with the 1022......so many things you can do with it. They are the "Mr. Potato Heads" of the 22lr world. You can change the looks, mission, and handling of them in seconds....and you can really build a sweet tack driver out of them!

the 10/22 is just too good/ versatile of a gun to not have one.

another vote for a 10/22. I just picked one up a few weeks ago at a gun show and added a new stock and barrel. I plan on doing the trigger next. Here's what it looks like so far.
