I've seen small flocks in Evansburg state park and French Creek State Park. I think the largest flock I saw locally was in Evansburg and there were about 8 birds.

I've also seen some along 422 around limerick exit so it might not be out of the question to find a few on the game lands in that area.

You'd be better off taking a short drive up the NE extension but either way, good luck.

Seriously there is a better shot at bagging a bird on public land than getting a deer in most cases. Find a game land in the middle of nowhere and walk, yes scouting works but I found out learning the land is half the battle of hunting. There are deer and turkeys everywhwere in PA but where to find them is half the battle. Take a rod for trout and hunt turkeys till noon and enjoy upstate PA.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Considering going out for spring gobbler, noticed most of the posts suggest SGL's in the more north. Should I field dress out there? How long does one have before the meat can spoil?

Depends on what the temperature is outside..

But as a general rule, I always field dress as soon as possible, and you probably should too. Especially if it's gut shot..
