Question about concealed carry permit
I was wondering if anyone knows if unpaid parking parking tickets could cause you to be denied a license to carry. Also I have never been arrested but my father and brother have both been convicted of felonies, could that affect my application. This is a great site, it has been very helpful already. Thanks

No and no
all the reasons they can deny are in ss6109 of the Uniform Firearms Act
PA.cs 18, ch61 A § 6109

Re: Question about concealed carry permit
In Philly parking tickets will disqualify you, they ask to see your drivers license & at that point state that if you have unpaid tickets your done, I would guess because you owe the city money & you are then asking the city to do something for you, granted they don't ask if you water bill is paid but go figure.

No as far as the family felonies. If you're clean no problem. As far as the parking tickets I have no doubt Philly would at the very least make you pay the before they issue.

Re: Question about concealed carry permit
hey i agree it sucks "go figure" in no way means this is acceptable, but if you are facing this possible scenario, pay the tickets before you apply. One less hoop for you to jump through

Re: Question about concealed carry permit
How much do you owe and there may be bench warrants out for you if you failed to appear. Or send in the money for the tickets

Re: Question about concealed carry permit
Exactly.
That's the major issue. Enough unpaid tickets and there's a bench warrant out for you. That I think becomes a fugitive from justice or whatever and no LTCF for sure.
When I applied for my LTCF in philly (a while back under retired-on-the-job Johnson) the officer asked if I had any parking tickets out and when I said I did but they were recent and yes I planned to pay them (in other words no chance of a warrant) she noted that on the back of the form as part of the comments (as in no arrests, no tickets, no this, no that, blah, blah, several weeks later everything checked out and it was granted).
Carry on.

Re: Question about concealed carry permit
I just applied in Philly very recently & was told by my interviewer that "if you have unpaid tickets you have to reapply when they are paid",she did not deferentiate between scofflaw status, fugitive(bench warrant)status, or any other variation. I would not risk/waste my time applying until the tickets were paid & you have proof i.e. receipt , clear account status on website etc. I got no impression that they would accept your word , just stating that "the check's in the mail".
