Default Thoughts on the Glock 19?

I've been considering picking one up. Either gen 3 rtf2 or gen 4. Tell me about your general experiences and thoughts on this firearm.

Gen 3 G19 i consider to be the most reliable CCW ever made! YMMV

So fucking awesome, I have 2. I'd avoid Gen 4 due to early issues with the new recoil springs.

bias aside, its pretty much go to platform in terms of rock solid reliability and performance. Hard to go wrong if it feels good in your hands.

I love the glock 19. Very reliable, easy to work on for maintenance or modification, more accurate than I am (not saying much) and just an overall great gun.

I have heard of issues with the G19 4th gen but have not had a chance to see any for myself. This can be fixed by a change in the recoil spring (so says the internet) but unless I wanted the changing backstraps for a reason I would go with a 3rd gen.

Reliable, accurate, easy to find parts and accessories for and small enough to conceal. I highly recommend a gen 3 over gen 4, personally. Early problems with gen 4 aside, the extended mag release catch is just too big for me to be comfortable - it makes me feel like my mag is going to fall out if I'm not overly careful.

I like mine, once I got a good holster it was easy to conceal.
I dislike the diamond commercials, give me something useful like guns, ammo or cookware.

I agree. Gen 3 Glock 19 is (along with a CZ-75B, and a Beretta M9/92FS) probably among the top of the heap of most reliable guns. If you throw CCW into the mix, it would probably be my first choice. Though, interestingly, I replaced mine with the larger (though still easily concealed in something like a Crossbreed SuperTuck) G17. I just feel the G17 lends itself to better accuracy in my hands. But, that's all me. I don't see any way you could go wrong with a Gen 3 G19.

I've read the late-model gen3 have the same extractor as the gen4, which is troublesome. I'm reading less and less about issues nowadays, however, so it might be fixed. IMO, I would get whichever one fits better in your hands. The vast majority of users aren't experiencing trouble at all.
