Letterkenny Army Depot
I have a good chance of getting a job at Letterkenny soon. I know guns are a no-go behind the gates. What about if I dismantled and stored it in my trunk daily? I don't want to be disarmed before and after work just because I cant have it in my car in the depot. Options?

Assembled or disassembled - it doesn't matter.. Unless you take a saw or torch to the receiver and create 5 pieces out of one - its still a gun.
Get conformation from the commander or provost marshal as to their "rules" for bringing a firearm onto base/depot. Some are pretty strict, some are pretty loose..

Your best bet is going to be to talk with someone in charge at Letterkenny. They may have somewhere you can check your firearm when entering and pick it back up when leaving.

Re: Letterkenny Army Depot
On the base I work on if you are not on the way to your quarters or the Rod and Gun Club range you don't want to have a firearm in your car. If those above situations apply: ammo and gun in seperate containers and the firearms must be locked up. I have been pulled over for a "random action measure" and had a firearm in the vehicle properly stored as stated above and was OK. I have never worked on a base that let you "check your guns at the gate" but I haven't worked on every base either. When in doubt find the
MP/Provost Marshall station and ask."You never lived till you almost died, for those who have fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know"

Re: Letterkenny Army Depot
Big no-no either way.
I have experience with Depots and they are typically stringent regarding firearms.
I've been to Letterkenny may times and all of their guard shacks are a good distance away from security HQ. You will quickly find that even if they OK'd it (I'd bet you dinner that they won't), the time/hassle involved is sooooo not worth it to have to do that on a daily basis.
Drive by one of the entrances in the morning. There is typically a line. Each line has one guard and they are committed to badge/vehicle ID inspection. They cannot be held up to process a firearm.
NO SNEAKING! It's not worth it. Federal offense IIRC.
Tobyhanna Army Depot is similar with the exception that I'd say security is much tighter than LEAD (Letterkenny)Gary in Pennsylvania

Re: Letterkenny Army Depot
If you get the job, you will probably need a decal for your car, so will go to Security in the South end of Bldg#2. Ask them what the policy is.

Security will say no.
Base policy.
The only exception is during hunting season with a hunting permit to hunt the ammo area.
