Re: ftf rifle transfer.
I would use a FFL for my peace of mind. I have transferred rifles and shotguns to and from immediate family members only. Con artists are practiced in presenting a good image.

+1
I live close to a FFL that specializes in low price transfers so it's well worth it for me to go through a FFL.
I would skip it for a family member or a trusted friend.

Re: ftf rifle transfer.
Why don't we all contact our representatives and demand firearm registration for all firearms, then we will all be safe, right?

Edg,
I would do that transfer for $20, that's my going rate. It's not a big deal to do a transfer for a long arm, no different that for a handgun (actually one less piece of paper for the buyer to fill out).Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Re: ftf rifle transfer.
I seem to sell my guns to guys that pay cash and of whose names I always seem to forget after I check their ID to see they are PA residents and after I ask if they are prohibited.
I've probably done at least 40 such FTF sales over the last 20+ years and have only ever been questioned once.
A police officer called me once and asked if I still owned a certain gun.
I told him no, I sold it to a guy in Greensburg for cash and don't remember his name since it had to have been at least 10 years ago.
OK, thanks he said and I never heard anything of it.
They called me, they didn't kick in my door and I was never sued or arrested.Last edited by 39flathead; February 5th, 2012 at 08:37 PM.

Re: ftf rifle transfer.
Let me get this right from what I read. This FFL, Campbell's, is going to charge $40.00 to log a rifle into his bound book from you then charge ANOTHER $40.00 to do a PICS check on the person buying the rifle from you? Nice; $80.00 for quick log-in and a $5.00 PICS charge. Wish I could get away with that at my shop. I don't want to hijack the thread so let's not too wrapped up in this. I just thought it needed commented on.
