background laws PLEASE HELP!
I live in wisconsin and they just passed the concealed carry law here. I am on probation for a non violent crime and non drug related crime. Some were felonies but because it was my first offence the court worked out a deal where they are expunged once I complete my probation. I do not have to put I'm a felon on job apps because the court worked it out where I am not considered a felon and all the felonies I had are gone at the end of my probation.
This brings me to am I still able to get my concealed carry while all this stuff is going on in my life or do I need to wait till I'm off probation to get it?Last edited by foxracing69; February 1st, 2012 at 02:46 AM. Reason: wrong title

INAL, but I don't think you're going to have much luck getting a ltcf or ccw due to something from whatever you were charged with possibly popping up..
What was your offense, that will help some more knowledable people shed better light...your post is too vague
Also providing a wiscn.. application to read might helpLast edited by Svickstc; February 1st, 2012 at 02:50 AM.

Re: background laws PLEASE HELP!
They were theft, burglary and breaking and entering. Years ago when I was young and dumb a few buddys and I broke into storage sheds and took stuff from them. I am still able to hunt every season, and own every gun I had before I messed up but I can't buy any new guns till I'm off probation. And like I said it was a non violent and non drug related crime. Weapons were not involved nor did we ever come into contact with anyone while we were stealing

Re: background laws PLEASE HELP!
Idk what your state application looks like but theft would not allow you to get a pa ltcf and I'm guessing same with your state
Here is pa application
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&g...cf+application
Click on the fist link and open .pdf sorry I can't post from android phone
Or contact an attornery but I doubt you'll be able to get oneLast edited by Svickstc; February 1st, 2012 at 03:23 AM.

Here's a link to the application: http://www.doj.state.wi.us/dles/cib/...tion-11-11.pdf
I'm not sure how they would treat you, but on page #2 it seems like the most relevant questions are #1 and #4. It sounds like you might be ok since they cut you a deal to expunge your record, so that seems like a non-conviction.
I'm sure someone with more legal knowledge will point you in the right direction. If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.

Re: background laws PLEASE HELP!
You would be way better off talking with a lawyer who knows the law in your state.

Re: background laws PLEASE HELP!
EDIT: how the hell did I miss that you were in Wisconsin?! Sorry, clearly time for bed over here.
Hey OP,
Had a guy call the shop today and ask a similar question.
IANAL, but heres my experience
I was on ARD (first time offense probation in PA, a version of what I believe your on) for DUI for a year back in 2004.
I was turned down on the state instacheck during ARD for purchasing a firearm, and when pursuing further with the state that I would not pass a PICS check until my ARD was completed.
I did not have a liscence to carry firearms at the time, so while I cannot answer that directly I see a lot of guys who pass PICS to purchase a firearm, but then do not get approved for a permit (Bucks County).
Not what you wanted to hear, but hope it helps. Essentially, here it is easier to purchase a pistol than to get a LTCFLast edited by RHGregory3; February 1st, 2012 at 04:30 AM.
