which shooting stance do you feel is the best for defensive shooting and why?

Iso. I used to shoot exclusively Weaver until I started taking some training classes, but now I've made the switch to Iso.
More secure base, easier to move/run and gun
Easier to transition to weak hand or single strong hand or single weak hand
Better balance.
Easier to scan for potential threats.
Goes hand-in-hand with the way most people are trained to shoot carbines (AK, AR, etc)
I'm sure I'm missing more. These have been my experiences which I realize might not work for everyone. Fine, do what works for you.

I've never been in a gunfight but in matches I use both.

I used to shoot Weaver. However, somehow over the past few years I've made the change to ISO. Not sure when it happened exactly. I think it was when I stopped shooting revolvers in the old cup and saucer grip. I know that I shoot better ISO than I do Weaver and that's what matters to me. None of this proves that one way is better than the other, it's all what works for the individual.

I rarely lock up in any stance when shooting. I like to move around, switch up foot placement, switch up standing, kneeling, prone, falling back etc. I work more on tactical reloads, reloads, transition and draws. The feet will go where they are comfortable.

If I had to classify it, its most likely a weaver looking stance on crack. The ISO stance is great with concealment or cover firing from a port, but IMO just opens you up too much to become a bullet sponge.

Isos...in most cases. Odd situations and shots will happen and those need to be practiced....but, in most standing or running shots Isos is faster and lends itself to leaning around cover easier.

The one major exception are those who are cross-eye dominant and I've found that they tend to do better with Weaver.

Learned on Weaver and it's natural for me.

I've been told by more than a few experienced shooter and LEO that the Iso more closely mimics the posture taken by most people in real world situations though. I've tried to switch and it feels awkward to me. I've struggled with it and always revert back to Weaver.
