    Default is it me...or the gun?

    FTF = Failure to Feed,

    ok, so i just purchased a para gi expert last week and took it to the range on saturday. now i know 1911's need to be broken in, but i dont think thats the problem. the problem is i didnt fire 1 mag the whole time i was there that didnt have at least 2 FTF's, the round would get stuck a 1/4 way into the chamber. but my buddy who has had a few 1911's went through 3 mags perfectly fine, which makes me think its me. he thought it might be a mag problem. my grip on it is pretty firm and i'm not limp wristing it at all i dont think. i have no clue what im doing wrong. i have fired his springfield numerous times fine, but i have only owned a glock up to this point. any ideas what i could be doing wrong? the only thought i had was that my grip was too strong and i was impeading the recoil.

    You say your buddy went through 3 mags perfectly fine. Was that with your gun?

    Try of your bud's magazines, or let your buddy shoot your gun a few times. I would say your 1911 needs broken in but try those things to just be sure.

    You say you have a firm grip, but is your grip high enough? You want your hand as high up on the grip as you can. Also, make sure your fingers aren't pressing on the slide and slowing it down.

    or you could get a dremel and some jewelers rouge and polish up the feed ramp and a little inside the barrel, make everything slide more easily.
