is it posible to buy an ar15 lower that...
Has all pins and everything installed, like the take down pins, mag release, bolt catch and all that already installed? Maybe just without a trigger assembly?
Something like a semi-stripped receiver?
I ask because I've never built my own and it seems like I'd be lost in a world I've never explored with no guiding hand.

Yes that would be all you need to assemble your lower reciever minus the reciever. If you were asking about the trigger because you want to upgrade it, you can buy a lower parts kit without a trigger for about 30$

Redturbo... denoting you like to play with cars?
If you can work on your car, you can build an AR lower. I had no experience and had no issues...Brownell's has some good videos for free on their site.

Re: is it posible to buy an ar15 lower that...
It is far cheaper and far more exciting to assemble your own lower. It is also quite easy. This video on youtube is very helpful and its what I used to assemble mine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA_Vkb2UB1w
The only tools I used were one punch, a hammer, and some needle nose pliers. However it is helpful to have an armorers wrench for the castle nut. If money is no object, then you can buy a very nice lower. If your on more of a budget you can build it for significantly cheaper.
Or if moneys still no object you could build your own lower with a match trigger/real nice stock and all those other doodads. Just my opinion."All we have is a temporary bill of privileges" - George Carlin

Trust me building an AR lower is like playing with lego's. Its honestly so easy that it almost seems like you did something wrong. I built my last lower in about 20 min and didn't even use a hammer or punch.

Found that thru google. Never heard of the place before.
Are you looking to build an upper also or just buy an assembled one to drop on?
I've had good luck thru this place:

There are so many tutorials on youtube and other places, if you have the right tools and even 10% of the brains of your average tree stump, building an AR should be a breeze."Disperse you Rebels! Damn you! Throw down your Arms and Disperse!" British Major Pitcairn at Lexington April 19, 1775
