Made it to the range today. I think I finally got the reflex sight set right.

Hit the range with my wife. Been a while, but she can still shoot 7-10 yards with a Glock 26. I was playing around with my Ruger MKII trying to shoot 1" black circles.

I haven't been able to shoot since the last week in October. I gotta get out to the range. Son has a few revolver he needs to try. (Heritage 22)

I also want to get him his own Savage rifle to train on for his rifle merit badge.

Range dates are the best dates. We try to do dinner and the range on rare times we have a babysitter.

We usually go every Saturday. Didn't do much in January due to me dealing with sciatica (hard to stand in place), plus we both caught head colds.

It was a terrific day at the New Holland (https://www.nhrpc.org/) range today. Weather was in the 45-50 degree range with little to no wind. I brought a rifle (LWRC M6IC-SPR with a 14.7" 1x7 twist barrel in 5.56mm) and a pistol (Sig P210 in 9mm).

Although I purchased the rifle at auction for about 1/2 of retail (brand-spanking new in box, sealed in air-tight original package), I added a few things:

1. Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24 scope and their extended scope mount.
2. Geissele "High Speed National Match" trigger which the Missus' had sitting in her "extra parts" box

Last week, I had zeroed the scope at 50 yds but I didn't have the new trigger installed. The one that came with the rifle was militarily "clunky", as it was supposed to be. The new combo made quite a difference today. I shot two ten shot groups: the first to verify a reasonable "zero" at 50 yds. (a .67" ten shot group), and the second at 100 yds. to get my "hold under" of about 2-2.25" at the 100 yd. distance due to the 50 yd. "zero" (a 1.74" ten shot group which included a floater at 3 o'clock - without the floater it would have been a 1.28" group at 100 yds).

Oh well...

Not too great, but not too bad for me. With more time behind the rifle, I'm sure the groups will get smaller...

Then took it to the long range, proned out, and seriously banged steel at 200, 300, and 400 yds when I ran out of ammo.

What really surprised me is that the 5.56 ammo I used were my own reloads from 2010 and just functioned flawlessly. My load data is on the target...

Moved over to the pistol range and let loose about 112 rnds at steel from 10-20 yd shooting positions. That Sig P210 could eat everything - from 147 PC bullets, to 125 FMJ bullets, to 122 cast bullets. All reloads functioned properly.

And just a note to those who sometimes have to face the arduous task of periodically removing lead from your pistol barrel: my final mag of the day has always been FMJ bullets, no matter the caliber I'm shooting. They do a real good job of "taking the lead out..." and make clean-up a breeze (relatively speaking)...

Just remember, the worst day at the range is better than the best day working!
