Did you go shooting today (Pic thread)

took my 9 year old son out yesterday. first time we've been out since last spring due to my hip surgery. He shot 300 rds in his two .22 pistols and I shot thru 3 mags in y AR. Really felt great to be back at it. Didn't keep our targets

I went shooting last week, but yesterday it was nice out so I took all of my guns out on the deck and cleaned them all.

That's awesome, gun-bunny! Makes me want to go buy some clearance Peeps for targets. I'd have to get chickens though, my daughter would cry if we shot bunnies.

Thanks! Peeps and bunnies are great, they can be shot multiple times, set up easily because they are a little sticky, cleanup is easy- just let them lay and the animals will eat them or the rain will wash them away, and they provide a satisfying reaction when shot.

For the kiddos, the last point is the most important because they won't care too much to shoot a bullseye- that's boring to them. Shooting a reactive target is much more fun. My daughter and I shootout between us on a dueling tree- it's something special to watch her reload quickly when she wants to, as she's very competitive.

We couldn't use them in Scouts. During my rangemaster training they specifically said nothing that even LOOKS like an animal or human is permitted as a target. They said no animal crackers because they look like living animals. No pumpkins because they look like human heads (not joking!).

Nice! It reminds me of my younger days and I was learning. Teach a kid to shoot and you'll have a gun loving citizen for life.
