Went out yesterday with my modified Mosin Nagant. I could barely hit the target with iron sights before. And after it being modified I was able to finally hit the paper. This was done without shooting rests or a lead sled or a bipod. I just held it and I am not a steady shot. Hoping to get a bipod and or some shooting rests soon and sero the scope in better.

Such a nice day for mid February. We took some .22's out. A Browning Buck Mark, Ruger MKI, S&W 63 and Winchester 67. We spent a couple hours shooting at spinning targets. A nice enjoyable outing.

This is from a couple of weeks ago. My and my friend's Remington 700s. Mine's on the right, SPS Tactical AAC, his is an SPS Varmint, and both are .308. He has a Barska 5-16x40 or something similar, my scope is a Nikon ProStaff 3-9x50.



And here are the results from this past Friday (the 9th) when the scope was nice and zeroed in.

2, 3, and 3 round groupings with quarter for scale. This was with 145gr PPU (not match or anything fancy, these were $11 per box of 20 at the recent Oaks gun show) at 100 yards. These were a bit less than scientific, as I wasn't actually aiming at a specific point, just eyeballing an area. 9x zoom isn't enough for 100 yards, IMO! :P





...and this is the disaster that is American Tactical (made in Turkey) 150gr 7.62x51. The quarters in the first picture are for reference of where I was aiming. Yeah, not even worth the $10/box they cost at the Oaks gun show. Temperature and wind were the same as the previous pictures. Second picture is the best 3-round grouping I got with this ammo, and the quarter is for scale as I was aiming at the x.




These are waiting in my range box as testers to see what my gun (and my wallet) seem to like best. Half are mine and half are my friend's. Without having shot these, and seeing the groupings I can get with the über cheap PPU seen above, I'll likely be on the lookout for that 145gr PPU in bulk, just for range fun.
