Re: Did you go shooting today (Pic thread)
My son and I hit the range again today. I set up 4 targets at 100 yds with the goal of sighting in my new 300 win mag, my old .270, my son's .243 and my step father's muzzleloader.
300 win mag. Trigger from hell. I got OK groups but I had to pull back to 50 yds to get on paper. At 100 yds I struggled a bit due to the horrible stock Savage (non-Accutrigger) trigger. I came home and immediately ordered a SAV-1 replacement trigger.
.270 - I got on paper at 50 and put together a nice sub 1 MOA group at 100yds but I was 3" high and I ran out of scope adjustment. I noticed that this was due to the scope mount so I had to do a quick fix and start over. By the time we left I was confident that my backup deer rifle was ready. I got a buck and doe with this rifle last year. (75 and 160yd shots)
.243 - sick! It took 3 shots at 100 yds and I had the last two in a 1" orange circle about .5" apart. I gave it to my son and he hit everything he was aiming at. We love that rifle.
Muzzleloader - I pulled the scope off. I don't remember installing it but the scope was crap. However, I did set up the iron sights and man, they are good. At 100 yds, I grazed the edge of the 1" orange circle. I put a new scope on it tonight and I'll be taking it back soon. My step father is 83 so I am hoping to take him and my son out together this year."The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."

Got out to break in my Savage Axis 223 today. Only had American Eagle 223 ammo but it shot well. Very pleased with it overall. Shot 60 rounds today at 50 yards. Gonna get out next weekend and open it up a little. Also took my P22 out fun little pistol!

Finally finished last winters project. Win 60a, .22lr, 27" heavy barrel, lyman peeps. Surprising how much fun an older single shot is. Found accuracy limitations are my eyes and not the rifle.
