    Wal-Mart sucks.

The moment my local gun shop can even get CLOSE to Wal-Mart's prices I will show their exclusively. Most of the time they have crap as far as inventory, so if I wanna go in and get 4 boxes of 45 they might not have it, and it is 6$ more expensive. While I am down with supporting them, I can't afford to pay that much extra to shoot.

    Find a good shop!
Mine can beat all big box stores, unless the bb's have a sale.

Reload, it's cheaper and better and no ID needed to buy components.

I don't shop there. My wife finally stopped shopping there.

Sportsman's guide was the best price on the net for some ammo.
I pay more and don't shop there anymore.

    Picky picky I guess.

    Did I say I won't shop there?

    Couple of things.

I go to both WM's in State College and know several of the guys that work sporting goods. Have never had a problem with them (probably because they do know me). The times I have been asked for ID by someone I didn't know I showed them my retired military ID card. Boy does that get them confused, they call a CSM, about 4 people come and I finally explain that if I have one of these I am obviously old enough to by ammo. The LTCF probably is a good way to go.

The long time guys at both WM's are not happy that they stopped selling guns BTW. Sometimes they will aid and abet me screwing with them. There's nothing (so far) that says that you have to pay for the ammo, bullets, powder, primers, etc at sporting goods. I have, at times, taken my purchases (with their blessings) to the front registers and on several occasions been told by the cashier that these items HAVE to be paid for back in sporting goods. I argue a little and then tell them to call a CSM. The CSM always sides with me telling the cashier that any item in WM can be paid for at any register (with the exception of tobacco products).

I called PICS (for a transfer) a couple of days ago. The automated system now only tells you the last 4 of the SSN. I received a letter from the PSP a couple weeks ago and they said this is what is going to happen. They used to read the complete SSN. I believe that this is from that lawsuit about the PSP Record of Application/Sale form (details are somewhere on the forum). The BATFE 4473 states that the SSN is optional but can [U]aid[U] identification.

Here's another decent Internet source for ammo. For ID, I simply took a digital picture of my DL and Carry Permit and emailed that to them which they like.
