I agree squirrel is largely over looked IMO because most squirrels people see are dumpster divers or park rats.

I love squirrel meat. I wish there were more of them around here.
I've been wanting to can a bunch.

Well browned with some onion slices, then smothered & simmered for an hour or so in Sweet Baby Ray's bargeque sauce it's one of the finest meals I've ever eaten.

Actually I think that is a common misconception. Correct me if I am mistaken but I am pretty sure they are not in the rat family.
