Public range in Lanco?
I have lurked around here for a while and even bought a couple guns through the classifieds section but never posted on here before. I don't currently belong to a club (I generally shoot at a buddys inlaws farm, or where we go 4wheeling which I have a permit for), but a friend just bought a new gun and we are trying to find somewhere locally to go out tomorrow and do some shooting. Anyone know of a public range anywhere in Lancaster county? I live in Mountville.

Re: Public range in Lanco?
I'm not aware of any public ranges in Lancaster County. There are Gamelands ranges in Chester and York but you need a hunting license or range permit and they may not be handgun friendly due to the shooting distances. Chester is alright when I take the 44 Mag but the 380 doesn't work too well at 50 yds. I've never been to the York ranges.
I believe Mill Creek Sportsmen open their indoor range to the public for a while on Sundays but have no solid information on that.

I forgot that Millcreek does the public day. I just looked into it on their website and it is most Sundays from noon to 2pm. They charge $15.

Your best bet might be to join one of the clubs with reasonable dues near you. Maybe Mount Joy Sportsman or Milton Grove Sportsman with annual dues around $50.

not a public range, but Manheim Sportsman club invites the public to shoot during the week on a certain night (or at least they used to)

Manheim Sportsman has an indoor range open on Tuesday nights, 7-9 for $5.

Re: Public range in Lanco?
Thanks. I didnt know Manheim did a public range night and $5 is much better than $15 (at Millcreek). I will try to get over there and check that out this Tuesday. Any idea on how busy it gets in there on Tuesdays?

Re: Public range in Lanco?
It's hit or miss. They have 9 stalls. Some nights it's 3 people and other nights it's full.

You could also get a member to take you anytime for $5. Shoot outside on the pistol range and have it to yourself.
