Sig P229 pricing

So, my financial aid is finally coming through at Temple, and all of my own money that I spent on fees is getting refunded to me.

I've been pretty set on getting a new gun, and I think I'm getting a P229.
Since I don't have a ton of money to spend on all of the guns I'd like, I try to buy to suit all of my needs (CC, range, HD) with CC being it's primary role.

My question is anyone within Montco/Bucks happen to notice the pricing on a 229 recently?

Also if you have one, what's it like carrying? I understand its a bit on the larger side for CC, I carry a SR9c, but my gripe is that it's almost too small for me and my large hands. For reference, I'm 6'3" 175, generally wear tighter fitting clothing.

im 6'3" and a bit fatter then you. i just shot a 229 in 40 and i think it would be a bit large for edc. i love the pistol though.

paid 500 for it used and am happy

Bought a P229 in .357 in November for $550. I'm 6'0 and 180lbs and fits my hand great. Got a Galco leather holster for it and it sits comfortable just above my waist tight to my body. I usually wear a loose jacket so no problem with me.

I love shooting it- put about a thousand rounds thru without any issues- it has a reputation for dependability.

Only downside with the 357sig is the cost of ammo. Can get some deals on FMJ online. Save the hollowpoints for the Zombies.

Saw one this past week at Tanners and they had a 229 for 625.00 and it was a 40 and they also had a 357 sig conversion barrel that came with it. I did not pull it out of the case but I thought that seemed like a decent deal with the conversion barrel.

New you're looking at $800-900 depending on where you go. However, there is a very very good alternative, the sig SP2022. Comes in 9mm .357, and .40. It has a polymer frame but is about the same size as a 229. I've handled one and it is a very solid and well made gun, as you would expect from Sig. The best part is I've seen them for under $400 brand new. Just putting the idea out there.
