    Default new flash suppressor

    Hello to everyone,
I am new to this forum & looking for some input on making a new flash suppresser for my m&p 15-22. Does anyone know if anybody makes a tap for 1/2x28 tpi or am I going to have to use my lathe to make these threads?
looking forward to any input on this.
    Thanks lonnie

Thanks for the tip. They have it but they want $190 for it. That's a bit much for me will do a little more lookin around maybe someone else will have one cheaper. Just thought it might be little easier with the tap.
    Thanks for your help

    From McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com/)

1/2"-28 taper, plug and bottoming taps (1 each style, for a total of 3 taps) $34.11 Part number 2521A215

If you only need one style, they are $13.89 each.

If you need a spiral point tap, 25705A65 $26.35

    All are high speed steel.

    Hope that helps.

While that could work, he would need a CNC mill to use it. That is a carbide thread mill. The shank is 1/2" but it can cut internal or external threads at 28 threads per inch in a variety of diameters.

Thanks for the info fellows. I'm going to get one ordered next week. I just got my new barrel nut that will accept AR free float forend-hand guard this week, so it looks like the chips are going to be flying this weekend on my first attempt on making a free float guard. hopefully I nail it on the first try. Have any of you used dura coat & if so is it as good as they make it sound?

Travers Tool Company is a company I've been dealing with for tooling. Dies in that size are < $30 (17-032-283). Tap (14-032-281) around $17. Their catalog has everything plus and their customer service has been great.
