Lemont's gettin' rough!
Centre County has it's first homicide of the year... The circumstances surrounding this are so mind blowingly stupid it is difficult to conceive that this has even happened, alas it has.

A murder over $20 worth of weed, how stupid is that. Plus, not that far from my house. He'll be going away for a long, long time.

Re: Lemont's gettin' rough!
This is one example of why we fought the no guns is parks ordinances. When talking to the Boro council, who still thinks of SC as it was in 1950, I told them that they really need to get the down and dirty report about drugs in the area by ALL the area chiefs of police, the PSP and the PA drug enforcement people. They need to be told exactly what is going on, maybe that will wake them up and rip the rose colored glasses off them.

Re: Lemont's gettin' rough!
oh and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the boro council unsure if they want to keep funding 65 officers and has been looking at dropping the Dept down to 62?

Re: Lemont's gettin' rough!
With the exception of one witness, he said, none of the parties involved is a Penn State student.
Anyone else noticing the demographic of Centre County changing? I've seen some shady characters near my neighborhood in recent months, and last year, many people on my street had break-ins with their cars.

Re: Lemont's gettin' rough!
When I joined the USAF in Jan 1972, I knew what the area was like, I grew up here. I got back home on the average every 2 years, sometimes more than once in a year, a couple times every 2 or 3 years (when stationed overseas). Everytime I came back I could see changes and was not happy with what I saw. I've lived here now since we retired (from the USAF, I'm still working ) in June 1997, and I've watched the deterioration of the area. Don't get me wrong, this is a nice area to live in, IMO, but I have seen, heard, read about, things that shouldn't be taking place.
The bad part about it is that if I can see it, how come the polliticians can't. It's right in front of their noses and they just ignore it. The are not proactive at all, they are just like the Egyptians I worked with for a year, they are completely reactive, heads in the sand, never giving a thought to how they can make this a better place. They are only concerned with holding on to their power.
Wow, I think that's a pretty good statement I just wrote, maybe I should expound (and edit it a little) just a bit more and send it to the CDT and see what kind of comments I get.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Re: Lemont's gettin' rough!
You aren't the only one though the self proclaimed stabber lists Boston, Mass as where he is from... at least on facebook
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=596402959
But you are correct, there has been an increase in petty type crime as well as B&E and car break ins, where exactly is it coming from, your guess is as good as mine but I imagine at some of it is related to the economy and society wanting everything "instant" now a days that when they can't earn the money fast enough (or at all) they resort to crime to pay for their items of desire.
Not only is it right in front of their noses one of the County Commissioners son admitted to spending the day smoking pot with the self proclaimed stabber all day and then was present, if not a witness to said homicide.!.!.!
